12-31-11

Well, we have had a fun weekend. Thursday evening Jacob and I planned a last-minute session at the Temple. It’s going to be closed for the next 2 weeks, and we hadn’t been for the month of December yet, so we called my parents and got them to watch the boys. They usually watch them when we go to the temple since they aren’t far from there. I tell you, it is the best thing in the world to live in the same city as your family. They are my favorite people in the world, so I love being close to them. On Friday morning the Arizona cousins came into town to stay with us for the weekend. Erin, Kaylee, and Julia are my mom’s brother’s kids. I got to know them pretty well when Adam and I lived in Arizona for those 4 short months. I’m always telling Erin to come visit us, so she had work off for the new year and decided to come down. They boys have been having a blast. The girls play with them and tell them how cute they are, so they love all the attention they are getting from their visitors. Friday evening we headed to Aunt Rise’s house to have a dinner with the cousins we hardly ever see from Provo. It’s always nice to get together with Aunt Rise’s family. I hated it when I was a kid cause she only had boys, but now they are all grown and married and I love their wives. So I love getting together with them. From Aunt Rise’s we headed to Bec and Jud’s house for the UFC fight, and the girls headed back to our house early because they were tired and probably bored because they were hanging out with a bunch of old married people. And that’s not all that fun for a 20 year old, a 16 year old, and a 14 year old. The boys went to Bacleen’s house to play with Sadie while we were at the fight. I spent the evening talking to my sister and her friend Courtney about married people stuff. At Bec’s I started feeling pretty sick, and it just kept getting worse after Jacob and I left. When we got home I got the boys to bed and then laid down because I felt so nauseous and didn’t get back up. Around midnight Jacob got really sick too, so the two of us were up all night feeling sick and throwing up and having stomach aches. We did that basically into Saturday afternoon, but luckily the girls had planned on going shopping all day so we didn’t have to entertain them. And Jacob’s parents picked up the boys and took them to the Edgel family New Year’s party that we were supposed to go to, so we got to sleep for a few hours and woke up feeling better. I got up and showered around 3 pm and the girls came back from shopping around 4:30. The boys got back from the party at 6, so we put a movie on and ate some food. After Jumanji was over, we headed outside to do the fireworks Erin brought for the boys for New Year’s. That was a good idea because they had so much fun with the little tanks and sparklers. I even took pictures with my real camera. Yay me! After fireworks I got the boys into the bath and then to bed, and the grown-ups stayed up watching Warrior and sipping Martinelli’s sparkling cider. The girls fell asleep like little babies, but Jacob and I watched all of the movie before heading to bed. It’s always funny that in Vegas no matter where you live you hear cheering and shouting and fireworks outside your house as soon as it’s midnight on New Year’s, and I remember it being so quiet in Meridian and wondering where all they partying people were.  Two different places, I guess. Anyway, that was our New Years! Just a relaxing evening at home with family.
