“When our wagon gets stuck in the mud, God is much more likely to assist the man who gets out to push than the man who merely raises his voice in prayer—no matter how eloquent the oration.” -Dieter F. Uchtdorf
A friend posted this quote on Facebook yesterday. I love it. I feel like this has been on my mind lately. Jacob and I always talk about how when we want something we can’t just pray for it, we have to get up and work to get it. I think the Lord wants us to show Him that we’ll at least meet him part of the way and he’ll go the rest. If we hope for health or healing, we have to take care of our bodies and God can then provide the miracle of healing. If we want a new job we have to be actively pursuing the opportunities that arise, putting in applications or getting certifications or whatever it may be to make us more qualified. If we’re searching for the right spouse we gotta get out and date or put ourselves in the right places to meet people.
I believe that when we try, when we show the Lord that we are willing to do our part, opportunities arise and blessings come in ways that we may not even be expecting. Even when we feel like we’re hitting dead ends or accomplishing nothing, at least we’re trying, and that paves the way for blessings to come. We have to get out to push when our wagon gets stuck in the mud. And when we do, we’ll find that our wagon starts moving and that we’re not pushing it alone. The powers of heaven will be pushing with us, and with that much power were bound to get it moving.
