The Labor ...

Teagan McKay Budge FINALLY arrived yesterday February 4th at 7:38 pm.

At 7am I had my first contraction, stayed at home, showered, shaved my legs, got all cutsied up, until I thought I should go to the hospital. We left for the hospital at around 3:30 pm. When I got to the hospital they checked me and I was a 7. So I was like, Sweet! We're almost done. I dilated a centimeter every hour, contractions were bearable and I was still laughing till I got to a nine. Then contractions started really sucking and I felt that pushy feeling, but the nurse said I was still a nine. Then I wanted to die, and I asked for an epidural, but they said it was too late, and I almost did die at that point. With Easton, going natural wasn't fun but it was easier and I never understood why a woman really needed an epidural. But i get it now. This labor was different. Yesterday I felt the most intense and excruciating pain ever known to woman. At about 15 minutes before Teagan was born I became HYSTERICAL, screaming at the nurses in the halls that I was going to die, somebody help me, the baby was coming out all by itself, something is wrong this time. I was a total wack-job, and I once prided myself on not making a peep during child labor. But then the nurse came back in one contraction later after checking me and saying I was a nine and saw that the head was coming out and that I was dying, so a doctor in the hallway threw on his jacket and gloves, came in as I was freaking out, and told me to push. Teagan came out in one giant push, the first push, and I then stopped dying. And then I was happy.

The great thing about this labor was that it was only 12 hours instead of the 24 I put in with Easton, and I only had to push once instead of the hour or more I pushed with Easton. The bad thing was that it was about a billion times more painful the last 15 minutes of labor. I was seriously CRAZY WOMAN in room 4. And I did not care one bit.

Teagan weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 19 inches long. He's beautiful! And we couldn't love him anymore. Easton is infatuated with his "bruh-ver". I didn't take any pics of the ordeal but my sis-in-law did so I will get them all from her. I got released today but Teagan has to stay to make sure that he isn't positive with the GBS thing. So he'll most likely be able to come home tomorrow. And then be prepared for an out-pouring of pictures.

haha- i love reading your birth story.. Hearing that it was bearable until the very last 15 min gives me hope! 15 min aint bad, right? haha.. I am just trying to give myself hope for when I go through it.. why do you think it hurt so much more this time? Because it was alot faster? maybe that's the trade-off.. ANyhoo.. can't wait to meet Teagan!

Congratulations!!! I am glad that it went well. I know what you mean about that excruciating pain at the end. I think part of it was that you were really ready to push and maybe the nurse just had little hands and you were really a 10 because when your body wants to push and they tell you not to that is the WORST! I hope she can come home soon. I can't wait to see pictures.

Congratulations! It was fun to read your birth story. I felt a lot that way - that labor was bearable, but pushing was super intense for me - the feeling right before they come out is like holy crap this has to end right now! I'm excited to see pictures. Congrats again - such a nice feeling to have it behind you and get to enjoy your newborn!!
