Today has been another productive day. I spent some time cleaning, vacuuming stairs and doing bathrooms, and then I washed Logan’s clothes so that I can have the hospital bag all ready. After Easton got home from school we went to Lowe’s, the bank, and Babies R Us. I had to get some end pieces for our shelving that we put up in the boys room from Lowe’s. I browsed the garden section there for a while, wishing I was made of all sorts of money so that I can have the garden of my dreams. I LOVE flowers. And I love gardening. The ranunculus were so pretty there. One day. One day I will have a yard and the money to landscape it.
After all those errands I came home and made dinner. We ate chicken tacos, Spanish rice, and beans. It was really good tonight. Our neighbor across the street came over and brought us a loaf of warm homemade banana bread after we had finished dinner. We have been trying to get to know our neighbors better, and she came over to borrow a cup of flour earlier. I was glad that she felt comfortable enough to do that. We’ve had the chance to talk to her quite a bit in the past month, and she’s had a lot of hard things going on in her life. The banana bread was very good and much appreciated.
Sadie got here just as we were eating dinner, so she had a bite of beans because she is super picky. Bec and Jud were going to go see Hunger Games and go to dinner since we left them kidless for the evening. The kiddos have just been running around, eating snacks, making messes, and having all sorts of cousin fun for their first sleepover. Easton keeps asking, “Can we go to bed?” He thinks it is going to be so fun to have Sadie in the room with them. They all crack me up. Sadie keeps asking for food. She is obsessed with food, and it drives Bec and Jud crazy but makes me laugh. I do love how much they love each other. I just watched Teags tell Sadie she had boogies, so he went and got a tissue and told her to blow. Then he was disgusted as some of her boogies got on his hands. What 3-year-old helps another kid his age blow her nose? Too cute. I don’t think they will ever go to sleep tonight, but it will be fun for them.
Tomorrow morning the three of them are going with G-Ma and G-Pa Edgel to G-Pa Edgel’s spring picnic that his company has annually. The kids have gone the last 2 years, and they will be happy that Sadie is going with them this year. They get to play games and eat food and see the Easter bunny. I’m not a big Easter Bunny fan. I think it totally distracts from the whole significance of the Resurrection, and it really can’t be tied in whatsoever. A magical bunny comes and drops baskets filled with candy eggs and money and toys or whatever people give, and then we try to explain that we are celebrating the Resurrection of the Savior. It’s a wonder that children actually buy that. Anyway, I don’t care if they go see the Easter Bunny, I just don’t talk about him like he’s a real thing. And I don’t want my children to think the Easter Bunny matters one bit. I’d rather call him the spring bunny and have a day on the first day of spring where this magical bunny left them things, at least to separate the day from the most important day in the history of man. Let’s leave the Resurrection day alone, though.
