Sunday, July 15th

I woke up this morning thinking that I had a meeting before church, but it turned out that it’s next Sunday. So we were able to get a head start on the morning since I started getting ready for church earlier than I needed to. We’re always on time for church, but we were about 20 minutes early today. I like to get there that early to get a bench. Our ward is huge, so you have to get there early if you like bench seating. After church we came home and stuffed our faces with whatever we could find as we usually do when we get home on Sundays. Typically we eat breakfast around 9, but we don’t eat again before we leave for church so we’re ravenous by the time we get home at 2:30. That’s 5 1/2 hours without food.

Our home teachers stopped by after church and brought us some frozen pomegranates. We are big pomegranate fans around here, and our home teachers pick out all the little seeds and freeze them for the year. We are definitely going to do that this year with the pomegranates we get from Jacob’s parents. After they left, I fed Baby Boy and then we left for my parents. We didn’t do my birthday dinner last Sunday so we did it tonight. My dad made chicken with rice, green chile, and homemade tortillas. And my mom made peach cobbler for dessert as I requested. It’s insane how much I love peach cobbler and ice cream. It’s my number one favorite dessert in the world.

I love going to my parents’ on Sundays and being with my family. They are the best. We laugh a lot, and we are the type that can tell each other anything and not be offended. We are not easily offended people at all, and I often look at siblings that are grown adults and hold grudges against each other and wonder how anyone could ever hold a grudge against their very own sibling. We just aren’t that way. We say what is on our minds to each other so there’s never any behind-your-back issues going on. I love that we are that way because it makes for a close-knit family. I hope my children are that way, never taking offense and never holding grudges. I find that a lot of people can’t say what they are thinking to their siblings because it will cause drama or a fight. But if I think my brother is being dumb, I’ll tell him, and he won’t get mad about it. I just love that we can be honest with each other so that there aren’t feelings of repressed anger towards each other. We have good communication skills, and I love that I have that relationship with them. I’ve always loved my siblings, even when my friends were complaining about how much they couldn’t stand theirs, and I can’t even imagine that someone wouldn’t be best of friends with their brothers or sisters. That’s just craziness! They are missing out on the best kind of friendships. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned how well we all get along.

My parents love seeing their grandchildren every Sunday. One of my dad’s favorite things is to take the kids out in the backyard while my mom is cooking. If one of us has a baby, he just loves to swing that baby to sleep on the swing they have hanging from their patio. My dad always has his iTouch with him so that he can fill it up with pictures of his grandkids. So cute. He pushed Logan in the swing until he fell asleep and then took pictures of him.

And this is Joe and his lady Laura. Bless Laura’s heart for actually letting me take a picture of her. She’s as bad as Becca with her self-conscious issues. I know that I don’t win any awards for self-confidence, but Laura and Becca take the cake when it comes to being self-critical. Anyway, we love Laura and we can’t wait for these two to get married. We are pretty sure they will. We are friends with Laura’s siblings, so we are rooting for this relationship on both sides. They love Joe, and we love Laura. And we love Laura’s family.
