Yesterday the boys went to Uncle Adam’s to stay the night. He’s in town for 10 days until he goes back to North Dakota for work. I met him at my parents’ house since he lives so far from me, and the boys were happy to see G-Ma and G-Pa before they headed off with Adam and his fiance Amber. I really love nights where Jacob and I don’t have to pay for a baby-sitter and mornings where we can sleep until 10am. We got both of those with the boys being at my brother’s. After the boys left my parents’ house with Adam, I visited with my parents and Joe for a bit and then went off to run some errands. I stopped at my sister’s to drop some shoes off that I bought for Sadie. Then I went to Michael’s to pick up some stuff for my CD packaging, but they were out of the kraft paper I needed, and now I don’t know where to find it. Such a bummer because I went there specifically for that and left empty-handed. I’m supposed to be getting together with another photographer next week to make our CD packaging, and I was picking some up for her too, so hopefully I can find some soon. After my errands, I got home about 5, a few minutes before Jacob came in the door from work. We were supposed to go to dinner with his parents, but that fell through and we ended up going to Olive Garden with Bec and Jud and Joe and Samantha. After Olive Garden we went back to Becca’s to watch The Lincoln Lawyer on our ClearPlay. It’s always fun to hang out with them and eat food that we shouldn’t. We left her house after midnight, but that’s ok when you don’t have to worry about getting home for a sitter or waking up early in the morning.
Jacob and I got up about 10am, and as soon as I woke up I called Teagan to wish him a happy birthday. He’s 3 years old today, and I have loved all the minutes of his life. His smile is infectious, and you can’t help but be delighted whenever he is happy. He’s happy quite frequently, so he brings a lot of joy and laughter to our home. He’s been so excited for his birthday, and now I know why parents make such a big deal out of their own kids’ birthdays. It’s just fun to watch them be so excited and feel so special. So I talked to him for a minute on the phone, but he was playing on Amber’s iPad and wanted nothing to do with talking to me. Jacob and I planned to have him pick the boys up while I was doing a photo shoot at 4. So we had a few hours before that to take my car in for an oil change, run to Target to get Teagan a couple more presents, and go to the grocery store to grab some things we needed. I put up some streamers and wrapped Teagan’s presents so that he could walk in and see his birthday stuff all ready for him. I left for the photo shoot at 3:50, and Jacob left at the same time to go get the boys. After my photo shoot, which went really well because I got to shoot an attractive and photogenic pregnant girl, I picked up some pizza and headed home. Teagan was asleep when Jacob brought the boys home, so I didn’t miss any of his reaction to his birthday stuff. But since he fell asleep and had to be woken up, he was not his usual chipper self. Still cute, but not as happy as he is when he’s not woken up involuntarily.
I had my mother-in-law sew the edges of a fleece blanket I got him. I was going to sew it, but I don’t have a sewing machine and didn’t have time to help her do it. So technically I didn’t make it. I need to get a picture of it. Then we got him two belts because he thinks belts are the most awesome thing ever. And we got him a soccer ball with a goal net thingy so he can play soccer since he and Easton love to play soccer. He liked his presents, but like I said, he was weird from just waking up.
After Jacob set up the soccer net, Sadie and Becca arrived so Sadie could see her Teagan. They got him a motorcycle that does wheelies, and Becca had no idea how much Teags LOVES motorcycles. He’s always talking about how someday he’s going to ride one when he’s big. He loves them, I promise. So he loved what they got him. Sadie stayed and played for about an hour with the boys, and she was here when we sang to him with cupcakes and whipping cream. He’s not much for cake. He only cares about the cream or frosting. So I bought some little chocolate cupcakes which were quite delicious and some whipped cream and put candles in that and sang to him.
Tomorrow we are having more birthday festivities with my parents at their house, so I will take some better pictures. I have videos, but there’s really no point in posting them on my blog since they can’t go in my blog book anyway.
After Sadie and Becca left, my friend Rachel came over to visit. She was one of the first people I became friends with when I started going to the single’s ward after my divorce. I love that girl! She moved back home to Moses Lake, Washington right before Jacob and I started dating, but she knew and hung out with both of us. We used to hang out at her house before we even considered dating each other, so she was so surprised when we started dating and then got married. Anyway, she moved back to Vegas last week, so she stopped in to say hi. It was a good day with my husband and then celebrating Teagan’s birthday and seeing an old friend.
