Elope?

So I've been talking to family and Jacob, and we just may bail on the whole traditional wedding. It's nearly impossible to do a wedding (especially the one I want) for under $4,000. There are so many other things we could spend the money on - a fabulous honeymoon, a house, a car. Don't get me wrong - I love all the pretty little details at weddings from the flowers to the centerpieces to the cakes and decorations. But I can live vicariously through the other weddings I photograph. I would just get a dress and bouquet, Jacob would get the tux I want him to wear, and we'd get hitched, hire my favorite photographer to snap some pictures at a great spot, and call it a day. Then we'd leave for our honeymoon and have an open house a month later. That doesn't sound so bad, does it? Then we could just keep the money our parents are willing to give us.
