Sunday, June 17th Father’s Day

The morning began about 8 am. Logan woke up at 6:30, which is 9 hours for him, but I don’t like to wake up before 7 so I brought him into bed with me, stuck his binkie in his mouth, and he was back to sleep until I woke him up at 8. I had to get Jacob’s Father’s Day breakfast in the oven and get Logan fed. I put together a breakfast casserole last night before I went to bed so that all I had to do was pop it in the oven  when I woke up this morning. It actually took an hour and a half to for the eggs to set, not 45 minutes like the recipe lied. But it was super delicious. Really delicious, in fact. Not healthy by any means, but who’s checking on Father’s Day?  The boys woke up at 9:30 and started making cards for Jacob. I also made pancakes with strawberries and whip cream to go along with the breakfast casserole. It was all yummy. Breakfast is a favorite meal around here. We saved presents and cards for after church so that we wouldn’t be late. The casserole took a half hour longer than it was supposed to, so that had already put me behind schedule.

After church we gave Jacob his present and cards. Easton’s card was hilarious. His explanations of his drawings are absolutely priceless and worth remembering.

Jake's card

If you’ll notice, there are 3 people scribbled out. Jacob asked Easton why they were all scribbled out.  The one on the top, he said, “Well I made a girl, and then I remembered that you are a boy.” The one underneath that he said, “I was drawing you, and then I was like what the heck are those dots?!” So he scribbled that one too. And the one on the bottom, he said, “That one I made his eyes to close to his hair, so I had to draw you again.” And he finally got one right, the one on the top with claw-like fingers that are as long as his arms :). He did write the sentence on his own. Anyway, he made us laugh.

I made these plaques for Jacob and our dads. I just bought the wood at Michaels, stained it, and mod podged the picture on and nailed the quote on. I like how they turned out.  And all 3 dads really liked theirs.

After Jacob read his cards and opened his gift, the boys Skyped their other dad for a little bit, and then we headed to Jacob’s parents’. After a couple hours there we went to my parents. I love Sundays. I love Father’s Day because I have such wonderful fathers, mine and Jacob’s, and I’m married to a man who is such a sweet dad to his boys. We had a wonderful day together, as usual.
