Sunday, February 25th

We are mostly settled in to our temporary home. All of our boxes are unpacked, but some things have been sitting in certain corners for a week or two while I figure out where to put them. We have more space in this house except in the master bedroom and bathroom and kitchen. Those spaces were bigger in our house, but we are very grateful to have a two-car garage that I’m actually able to park in and that we can store our stuff in. I don’t even know what our stuff is, but we have stuff. Stuff we can’t get rid of for fear that we might need it one day but that we haven’t used as long as the two of us have been together. I hope we aren’t the only ones that have that kind of stuff. Jacob and I drive past houses that have their garage door open to see immaculate garages with nothing in them, and we wonder what kind of people they are. Don’t they camp or hunt or play sports or have children with bikes? Don’t they have vintage furniture waiting to be redone? Don’t they save things, like baby stuff and hand-me-down clothing? Because we sure do. Luckily we now have a two-car garage and a lot of shelving, so that has been really nice for us.

My children adjusted quickly to a new home. They really like living next door to their best friends (Tahj and Liyah moved right before we did), they like the extra space, and sometimes they go out in the backyard. Mr. Logan likes to crawl into the kitchen and play with the dog food. He has really caught up since we moved here. He finally sits on his own, goes from sitting to crawling, pulls himself up to standing, does some yoga moves, but he generally prefers to army crawl. He’s really growing up, and he is at this perfect age where I could just keep him here forever. He’s so so so adorable and soft and playful and has a smile that makes me swoon. He is so delightful that I’m thinking of getting pregnant again this summer because I can’t think of not having a baby his age. We absolutely love him. He has his fussy times, like while his top tooth next to his two front teeth is breaking through (making this his 5th tooth), but he’s really pretty happy. He quit baby food. He’s done with that. He likes to eat whatever we are eating. He loves diced peaches, Kix, eggs, and anything he can feed himself. But he’s quite picky, at least compared to the other boys. He only likes things for a minute and then wants something new.

Jacob is busy with school. I’ve made a rule that he has to stay at school to study after his classes are over because he comes home and gets too distracted by life here that he can’t focus and get his work done. He’s adorable, and I love him, but he’s terrible at focusing on the task at hand if he’s even near this house. He’d rather play with the boys or do things around the house or organize the garage than study.

We have paid off our debts. It is the best feeling. No more car payment, no more nothing. We don’t owe anyone anything, and it really is the best feeling. I am so grateful – we both are – that we were able to sell our home and have things work out the way they did. Blessings have certainly been poured out on this little family.

On Monday I began a healthier lifestyle. We’ve really been focusing on cutting out sugar, increasing veggies, eliminating processed foods, eating less meat and more fish, and finding healthy recipes that actually taste good. I always do healthy wrong. I force myself to eat things that I don’t like just because they are healthy, so I have made it my first priority to change our eating habits by finding healthy meals that are both wholesome and equally delicious. I have been excited this time around, and we have really eaten very well this past week. I feel like there is hope to continue this since I am finding new ways to eat healthy foods, and that makes me happy.

Just a few cute pictures from earlier this week – Teagan chose a bubble blower for his birthday from G-Ma Romero. They loved it :). Easton complains that he always misses all the fun while he’s at school. Not my fault he decided to grow up.
