6-22-11 Father’s Day and Other Things

I’ve been slacking on journaling lately, and I hate when I get behind. I suppose life is just busy with  getting ready for girls camp and being second counselor in YW’s and baby-sitting and all the other normal things we do each day.

Jacob started a new job on Monday. He’s doing marketing for a company here in Vegas called ATI, which is a drug testing lab. It’s more of a 9-5 deal, M-F, which makes me quite happy to have back on a normal schedule. So far he likes it. He’s going to be going to school full time next semester, and this job will work around his school schedule. So we’re happy about that. Since he’ll be going full time, I’m going to go half time. I think we’d go crazy if we were both in school full time.  I know people do that kind of stuff, but I don’t want to feel like I’m neglecting motherhood and family and doing too much all at once. I like a nice healthy balance in life, so I’ll just go part time while Jacob goes full time. It’s more important that he finishes his degree anyway.

We had a very lovely Father’s Day around here. Started with breakfast before 8;30 am church ( I hate 8:30 am church). Then Jacob and Teagan came home and took naps while Easton and I got Jacob’s presents ready. Nothing fancy, just a bunch of clothes he needed. Easton and Teagan talked to their dad on Skype since he couldn’t come down and get them, and they loved that. After they finished talking to their dad, Jacob woke up and we did presents with him.

From there we went to his parents house and spent some time with Jacob’s dad. Have I mentioned before how much I love my father-in-law? He’s one of the kindest and happiest people I know, willing to do anything for anyone, and especially for us! The boys have so much fun playing with Grandpa Mark, and he sure adores them.  The boys ate ribs over there, and what man doesn’t like ribs?

From Jacob’s parents we headed to my parents and ate some more food.  I made my dad a dvd of pictures and video clips of the kids played to “You Are My Sunhine”, and I knew he would cry when he watched it. And he did. Everyone loved it. And my dad said it was the best gift he’s ever gotten, and he called me yesterday to tell me he’s been watching it over and over. Anything that has to do with grandkids and my dad’s guaranteed to love it.

So it was a good day. I have a wonderful husband who’s been such a good dad to the boys and has loved them like his own since the very minute he became my husband. And I have a wonderful dad who is the sweetest grandpa I know and just thinks the world of all his children and grandchildren. And I am also blessed with an amazing father-in-law who is always an example of charity. So there are a few good fathers in my life that I admire and love.
