Uncle Don and Erin came into town on Friday and stayed with us for the weekend. They came to see Uncle Dane who is having open-heart surgery tomorrow. It was just a quick visit, and they had a lot of people to see, so we didn’t get to spend a lot of time with them. Erin managed to get in a bit of play time with E and T, and they loved it. It was fun to have them, even though the visit was quick. They went back to Glendale this morning.
At church today the mother of one of my Mia Maids came up to me and told me that it’s really hard to get her daughter to church, but that since I started teaching the lessons her daughter has loved them and wants to come to church. She said that I teach in a way that she understands. Well, of course, I was happy as a lark to hear that. Sometimes when I’m teaching I feel like no-one cares, no-one is paying attention, and I would never had thought that this particular young woman cared one bit about what I was saying. So it just made my day for her mom to tell me that she loves my lessons and really understands what I’m saying. Which means that her daughter actually mentioned my lessons to her. I guess, when you don’t know it, you really might be saying something that these young people “get”. And that makes me very happy, even if she is the only one in my class listening. I have a great bunch of girls in there, so I’m sure she’s not the only one listening. Nobody in the church holds a thankless or useless calling. Sometimes those we serve really are changed or helped by something we say or do.
